Emily

Emily has been a Service user of the NHS for a number of years and has first hand experience of the frustrations involved in both seeking help and receiving help from the traditional routes used by the Health Service.

She has worked previously as a First Responder to the Ambulance Service in North Staffordshire; she has also worked on a voluntary basis for a day care centre, where she would help tend to people with learning disabilities. Emily has a keen interest in helping people with learning disabilities and has for many years helped with a close family member who also has learning disabilities. In addition to this Emily also helped nurse her late mother for a number of years prior to her going into a nursing home for palliative care.
She has a keen interest in mental health issues and firmly believes that working outdoors with others can improve ones mental frame of mind.

She has recently started an NVQ 2 in Care work and will be volunteering her time as a support worker for clients of Farm2Grow. Emily also works part time at Rethink which is an organisation who works directly to support people with mental health issues. Emily has also recently started an OCN course studying mental health.
